Jumping to Conclusions: Batman #679
April 14, 2008Potentially big surprises are in store for Batman in July! How big? Who knows?

From DC Comics’ July 2008 comic book solicitations:
BATMAN #679
“Batman R.I.P.” — Part 4! Robin and Damian team up — yes, you read that right — to search for the missing Batman. Meanwhile, the Club of Villains — The Hunchback, Pierrot Lunaire, King Kraken, Charlie Caligula, Scorpiana and El Sombrero — rampage through Gotham City! This incredible fourth chapter of “Batman R.I.P.” ends with the surprising return of a character you never thought you’d see again!
Surprising, eh? I can only begin to wonder who that would be, so I thought I’d open up the rampant speculation to you guys. My money is on Azrael, but Grant Morrison is absolutely nuts… it could be anyone!

Man, if I knew my saying that would ingrain the idea this deep, I’d have said something more off the wall than Azrael.
That said, I do believe it will be Azrael. There really isn’t anyone else. Leslie is a good pick, but I think her return is more likely to be tied to Stephanie’s not-death in “Robin”.
Thomas and Martha Wayne returning would be the equivalent of, as Ain’t It Cool forumers put it, “flames on Optimus Prime”.
Vibe? Now you’re just reaching, sir.
What if Barry Allen becomes Batman? Just a thought -I saw some pictures in both Batman and in Flash that got me thinking of off the wall ideas. Could be interesting.
I bet its Azrael. It has to be.
And what of Thomas Wayne? Is he alive or is he dead?
is the Black Glove?
